Investigation of Noise Generated by Railway Freight Wagon Bogie Type Y25Ls(s)e-K and Proposals of Noise Reduction

There have been numerous attempts and investigations carried out with the objective to reduce noise generated by railway freight wagons because is one of ever-present negative environmental pollution phenomena. This resulted in strong legislation requirements on reduction transport, case wagons, only exterior a problem. However, extremely hard metal structures running rails naturally generate high magnitudes acoustic energy. One big initiative, especially Germany, seeks solution replacement cast iron brake pads composite which should result so-called “silent trains”. But braking used during minor part train run, leaving most phenomena run unaffected. In our research, we focused bogies type Y25Ls(s)e-K that are used, including Slovakia. We simulated structural natural frequencies predict vibrations consequent sound these vibrations. The idea was localize propose possibilities attenuation. more realistic view about fields obtained practical measurements moving bogie. Measurements test track at maintenance workshop were done using digital camera Soundcam. For attenuation radiated bogie frame, silencers made from recycled porous fiber material applied frame. To determine difference, half bogie, then out. results showed promising improvement reduced radiation, gives support for further research this area precise simulations coating frame as well proposal measurement noise-attenuating coatings other parts wagons.
